We found out in October and I’ve been keeping mum ever since because it still feels unreal somehow. This will mean big changes for us, of all sorts, and there is a mix of excitement, anticipation, and butterflies in my tummy. So the real reason why we headed to Charlottesville this past weekend is because we are going to be moving there in a few months!! I know I know, it’s kind of a big deal. Dr. Love will begin his medical residency and can’t wait to roll up his sleeves and get to work, making a difference of sorts.
On the agenda was the search for living quarters and it is such a stressful process because there’s all sorts of criteria on the list: close to downtown, enough square footage for my extravagant collection of clothes, cozy, wooden floors ifatallpossible, gym accessibility, a little porch for my herbs….and so on. We were able to visit a couple of places but a whole lotta nada, no sparks, no excitement – must keep looking. This is going to be our first “real home” and I have high hopes for finding and creating something wonderful.
Since the name of the game was to explore away, I drug along sweetums to the Albemarle Baking Company and literally licked my fingers after devouring cream puffs and snickerdoodles. Here he is, amused at me snapping his picture.
Can’t believe we’re about to embark on a new place that we know so little about but excited to start anew and asking for anyone that lives in the area to please reach out and help a lady out (much appreciated thank you so much)!
Oh, and I was such a happy little ladybug upon finding out there was a b&m in town, breathing a sigh of relief! Being accustomed to having a store nearby has been such a pleasant and convenient experience, I couldn’t handle going back to only purchasing online. The store and its staff was lovely, a pleasant added bonus.
Oh yay, how exciting! Wishing you and Dr. Love tons of luck finding a place and settling down in Charlottesville 🙂 And you look absolutely darling in these pictures! Such happy smiles on your face =)
This is all so exciting! Hooray for new beginnings and lots of adventures! I can't wait to hear all about the next chapter of your lives. Oh and by the way, huge congrats to Dr. Love!
Congrats on the move!! That is super great news! And congrats to Dr. Love for beginning his medical residency! I know that you'll find a wonderful home, but hopefully it'll be sooner rather than later so that you can just concentrate on getting there and unpacking and starting your new life in a new city! You look beautiful as always, Dea, and I really, really love that coat on you! Is it J.Crew?

Congratulations! Very exciting news. I have never been to Charlottesville but have heard nothing but good things. You should contact or at least start reading the blog of Kath. She's a super-cool food blogger who just moved to Charlottesville. She and her husband will be opening up a new bakery in town soon. She seems to be really helpful to others who are visiting or moving to C-ville. If nothing else, she always has posts and pics about the town. Kath Eats
